We're two weeks old!

I can hardly believe that two weeks have passed by already. The Spartan x Enya puppies are doing very well, all eyes are open and they are crawling (albeit wobbly) around in the whelping box. Enya is being an exemplary mother and the puppies are gaining all kinds of weight (the biggest boy - blue collar - is 3 lbs!).

The Spartan x Enya puppies have arrived!

 Miss Enya decided to have her puppies a little early just to keep things interesting. I noticed she was acting a little different yesterday....nesting, shadowing me everywhere I went and acting a bit agitated so I knew something was up. The first puppy arrived at 7:45pm and then they continued on into the night. Enya was a real trooper, delivering each puppy smoothly, quietly and with no drama. She has been a wonderful mother as well, very attentive to the puppies, you would never know this was her first litter.

The puppies are all big and robust and very strong. They nursed with great gusto immediately after being born and they haven't stopped yet.

We have five puppies total with three boys and two girls, all black. All puppies are vWD clear by parentage.

Some Happy Birthday Wishes

There are a few Braebrook birthday kids in April!

The first being the Dirk x London litter who turned five years old this year. 

Here is Coco (Ch Braebrook's Coco Chanel Holmrun) enjoying her birthday cake while son Soter looks on anxiously awaiting his turn. ;)

The Dirk x London litter consists of Coco, Amadeus, Louis, Ava, Pony (all champions), Thakoon (pointed), Gus and Vano. All other than Vano are alive and well and in great condition. Vano died very young after an unfortunate accident.

Next was Lexi (Holmrun's Glitterbug Bruda CD CGN) who turned eight! She is my first Doberman and now the matriarch of the house. Those grey faces always warm my heart but Lexi is extra special. She was born an old soul and has never been anything but perfectly behaved. She let me know early on that she didn't like the showring so instead we went into the obedience ring where she was awarded her Companion Dog title. Lexi was never bred, she has always been our special pet and companion though and has been a great dog for the kids to grow up with. I feel very blessed to have her.

Enya's belly is continuing to grow with puppies due on May 4th, so they will just miss joining the April birthday kids. I'm very excited to see what comes from this exciting litter sired by Spartan (see the previous blog post for more information). Picture updates!

 As you all know I LOVE getting updates and pictures on any Braebrook puppy so please please send them my way ( braebrookdobes@yahoo.ca ), and thank you so much to those who have. Here are a few I have received recently:

I just love this one of Braebrook's Get Rhythm "Riley" and her little buddy from doggy daycare. Riley is from the Mick (BISS Ch Holmrun's Play for Keeps) and Coco (Ch Braebrooks Coco Chanel Homrun) litter born July 2011.

This is the above mentioned Coco and her son (and littermate to Riley above) Soter (Braebrook's Going to Jackson).

Another of Coco and Soter (doesn't he look dapper in his tie??) with owner Sherri.

Wyatt (Braebrook's Ride On Hearthfire) and his buddy Dijon keeping an eye out for Santa. Wyatt is from the Beau (Am/Can/Thai Ch Holmrun's Beau Regard CGN) and London (Ch Holmrun's Bo Jolais Braebrook CGN) litter born Feb 2009.

Freddy x Phoebe puppies 8 week stacked pictures

I am continuing to enjoy this litter so much, they are a fearless and vivacious bunch and all so very proud of themselves. They move out well and carry a great back and recover quickly when startled. Of course I don't hold back when making noise around them, dropping pans, loud radio, talking all the time and the kids are always busy around them. They learn quickly that these things are all normal and fun and having a very dog loving cat is great for them too. They haven't spent as much time outside as a litter born in the summer would but we do go for short 10-15 minute jaunts out in the yard to play and they run and explore and come flying back when I call "pup pup pup".

The theme for this litter is going to be a wine theme and coming up with names has been fun but nothing has been set in stone so please feel free to comment with suggestions.
